With around 2300 Licensed Betting Offices (we call them LBOs) across the UK, we are one of the leading providers of fixed odds bookmaking services, offering odds and taking bets on a wide range of sporting and other events from around the globe.

Our LBO’s are open 7 days-a-week and this means we can offer great flexibility in your job or career. Our shops have a real team atmosphere and the key focus for our staff is to make everyone who comes into the shop feel as welcome as possible. All our shop staff are committed to achieving our retail goal to offer "Competition beating service at a local level".

Call centre operations

William Hill’s call centre operations are based in both Leeds and Sheffield where we have the capacity to handle 600 calls simultaneously.

William Hill is the UK market leader in telephone betting, with over 140,000 active customers, many of whom are sophisticated, high-stake punters. We are the market leader by being customer-focused and innovative. For instance we were the first company to introduce services such as a freephone number and the use of debit cards.
Our Telephone Betting business offers a wide range of flexible shift patterns - mostly part time, so we need people who are available to work Saturdays, Bank Holidays and the occasional Sunday.

We are constantly innovating and developing new online products. Our casino site is the world's leading online casino in UK sterling with nearly 50,000 accounts.

• Our online Sportsbook (sports betting website) serves customers from over 175 countries, offering six languages and 11 currencies
• Each year we take  online bets from 169 countries for over 60,000 events (350,000 markets) and over 30 sports
• Our gaming websites offer casino, poker, bingo and skill games

Our head office operations are primarily based in London and Leeds. Our teams in Marketing, Finance, IT, HR and Training and Development are the people who underpin our whole business. They provide the drive and innovation to ensure that we maintain our market leading brand, develop the very best talent and provide the technology infrastructure upon which our business thrives.

Our Surveyors and Building Services teams ensure that our extensive property portfolio caters for the needs of customers and colleagues alike.

Trading and racing operations

In our Trading Department we compile odds on a huge array of sports and events. We accept bets on over 38,000 events from around the world covering over 20 different sports. Our Trading team also focus on ensuring that our business is not over exposed to risk. They utilise a broad range of knowledge to ensure that the judgments we make are well informed.

From a racing operations perspective we have teams of people who work 'on-course'. These people are at the sharp end of our business, providing information that shapes the bets we offer to our customers.

However, our racing operations are not just confined to horses. In August 2002 we acquired Sunderland Greyhound Stadium. This was our first non-betting purchase since flotation and is widely considered to be one of the most successful greyhound venues outside London.
